DVD RELEASE THIS SUMMER

In late August 2010 the film about the Danish freedom fighter Kim Malthe Bruun is released on DVD. It can be obtained at Gyldendal's Book clubs.

KIM is directed by Morten Meldgaard. The film tells the unique story of freedom fighter Kim Malthe-Bruun, who was executed in Ryvangen just 29 days before the conslusion of the Second World War. The film is based on the popular book "Kim" from 1945, which contains excerpts from Kim's letters and diary entries.

Through a unique archival material and reports from Kim's girlfriend Hanne Olsson and sister Ruth Berner, we follow an unusual young man's journey through life and love towards a premature death. The film traces Kim's life from his childhood in Canada to life in Danish high society, and from his life as a sailor to his life on death row in Vestre prison.

The film is a tale of fate, love, joy, sorrow and heroism, and it is a film that reveals how a country's history and politics may interfere in each family's and human's life. The film places the freedom fighter Kim in our history and consciousness and is, like the book, a unique contribution to Danish history writing.
